Boehm Family, 2 pages, starting on Page 1
The Boehm section starts on page 1 with Samuel Boehm. Samuel Boehm was probably born about 1715 in Germany and arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on October 27, 1738, on the ship St. Andrew. He may have lived briefly in Lancaster Countyr Pennsylvania and then moved to St. Mark’s Parish, Orange (now Page) County, Virginia. On June 25, 1740, he bought 200 acres on Hawksbill Creek fron Joseph Stoneman of Lane.aster County for £20. He received an adjoining 170 acres from Lord Fairfax on March 16, 1752.
About 1742, Samuel Boehm married Elizabeth Funk. In 1749 he and several other Mennonites were ordered to appear in court on a charge of holding unauthorized religious services.
Funk Section, 3 pages, starting on page 3
The Funk section starts on page 3 with Heinrich Funk. Heinrich Funk was probably born in Germany about 1662 and was a Mennonite. He lived in Bonfeld in Baden, Germany in March, 1717, when he, with his wife and children, left for America.
Hiestand Section, 349 pages, starting on page 6
The Hiestand section starts on page 6 with Heinrich Hiestand and is the longest section of this book. Heinrich Hiestand was born October 8, 1704, probably in or near Ibersheim, Germany, and married (Kauffman?) about 1732 . He was a Mennonite and moved to America before May 14, 1735, when he received a warrant for 226.5 acres in Hempfield Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania; it was surveyed on May 20, 1735, and patented on June 22, 1743.
Other spellings include Haston, Heiston, and Hestand.
